Wasps make their
nests in roof-spaces, cavity walls, garden sheds and are
particularly prone to constructing them under ground.
The threat posed by wasps can be
very serious to some, especially if stung around the neck or
tongue. Indeed, anaphylactic shock seems more prevalent
each year.
The fertilized queen spends the
winter in a safe location that is protected from frosts. In the spring, the nest begins
to develop with the queen beginning to lay her fertilized eggs. New workers emerge and so the colony develops over the summer
into a nest containing thousands of wasps in the Autumn.
Next years queens develop and leave
the nest, so looking for a suitable location to begin the
process all over again.
The wasps will defend their nest
